It's been another busy week for your Bournemouth South Neighbourhood Policing Team, as we continue to tackle crime, protect vulnerable people, and respond to the issues that matter most to our community. 

Key results from this week:

Closure Order obtained for problem address

Following months of reports from local residents, officers have worked successfully with our partner agencies at BCP Council, to obtain a Closure Order on an address linked to persistent anti-social behaviour and criminal activity.

The activity associated with the property was causing significant alarm, distress and disruption to those living nearby. Evidence was presented before the court, resulting in the address being closed for a period of three months.

The Closure Order means that those responsible for the issues associated with the address can no longer attend the property, bringing immediate relief to neighbouring residents and helping to restore peace to the area.

Police Constable Jade Kerslake, of Bournemouth South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

"We listened to the impact the activity at this address was having on the local community and worked closely with our partners to compile evidence and present it before the court, resulting in a Closure Order being granted.

We will continue to respond to reports of anti-social behaviour and criminal activity, taking positive action to support our communities and hold those responsible to account. I would like to thank local residents for continuing to report concerns and provide information, which has been vital in achieving this outcome."

Closure Orders are an important tool in tackling properties that become focal points for anti-social behaviour and criminality. They help protect local communities, support vulnerable residents and send a clear message that behaviour causing harm to others will not be tolerated.

Suspected brothel disrupted

While responding to a safeguarding concern involving a female, officers received information suggesting that a property in our area was being used as a brothel.

Officers attended the address and located two females inside. Both were safeguarded and provided with appropriate support.

Reports relating to suspected brothels are taken seriously. Properties used for this purpose can often be linked to organised criminality, with vulnerable women being subjected to exploitation, coercion and abuse for financial gain. By investigating concerns and working closely with partner agencies, we can identify those at risk, safeguard victims and disrupt the criminal networks responsible for their exploitation.

Vulnerable missing person located and brought to safety

This week, officers successfully located a vulnerable 15-year-old girl who had been reported missing from her home address. Using available phone technology and investigative enquiries, officers were able to identify her whereabouts and ensure she was returned safely.

Missing children and young people are among the most vulnerable members of our communities. When a young person goes missing, they can be at increased risk of exploitation, harm and becoming involved in criminal activity. This is why every missing person report is treated seriously, and why early engagement, safeguarding and partnership working are so important in protecting vulnerable young people.

Community Contact Point - Our regular pop up outside Tesco in the Square, continues to be a valuable to the community. We always welcome those who come and speak to us about their concerns for the area, or just for a chat. 

6 Section 35 Dispersal Orders issued -Helping to prevent anti-social behaviour and keep public spaces safe for everyone.

3 safeguarding reassurance visits - Supporting vulnerable individuals and providing ongoing welfare checks where needed.

Regular patrols of the Jewish community - Officers have continued regular patrols and engagement within the Jewish community this week, as it is Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.

Hot Spot Foot Patrols – We always aim to out on foot patrol as much as possible in our hotpost areas. These areas are defined by information we receive from you, so please let us know any issues you would like us to consider. 

 These visits help provide reassurance, strengthen community relationships and ensure we remain responsive to any concerns affecting those who live, work and worship in the area.
